CH340E Programmer

Breakout for CH340E USB to Serial IC. The schematic also includes some basic USB protection circuitry, power and transmit indicator LEDs, and pin breakout matching the standard +3V3 FTDI pinout.

Why


I started working with some ATTiny Series 1 chips, and I wanted to design a simple breakout that would allow me to both upload code to the chips and read/write from the UART. There are several chips that can do this, but they tend to be quite expensive per chip. And for some designs the USB to Serial interface chip might cost as much as the rest of the components (including the PCB) but together.

I do have a GitHub repo with the KiCad project and gerber files, should anyone be interested. The next step is to incorporate the design into some other projects and test out how that all works.
